The Cape Lookout Lighthouse, Closed in 2022.

The Cape Lookout Lighthouse with Lightkeepers HouseAlthough H2O Captain Eco-Tour Private Boat Excursions can take you to Cape Lookout, sadly, the Cape Lookout Lighthouse is closed in 2022 for climbing.  After a safety inspection Inside the Lighthouse, it failed as extensive repairs are required.  The earmarked budget was originally was $7.6m.  Now it is up to $17m!  There is moisture in the building, including the bricks.  New windows, doors, and paint are required.  All this in a remote area.

Even without climbing to the top of the Lighthouse, this iconic, symbolic, and marine safety structure is still a marvel to see either from the water, in Barden Inlet, or to walk through the Lightkeeper's house turned into a small museum (no fee for entrance) directly in front of the Lighthouse.  And H2O Captain can stukk take you there!  Also available to experience is the Cape Lookout Bight.  This is an area where the ocean meets the protected water and where the Ferry never ventures out to go to!  It will make a unique impression on you, guaranteed.
